The 11th Annual Peter Teeuwen Memorial Bike Ride is SUNDAY, JANUARY 12 at 1pm, START/FINISH at the Grassfield Ruritan on Shillelagh Rd. in Chesapeake, VA. This 23-mile mass-start "parade" ride (20mph max. pace controlled by Chesapeake Police escort) will draw approx. 150 area bicyclists to commemorate the untimely death of Tidewater's beloved bike race promoter who passed away at age 42 on January 10, 1993. The route follows the traditional "frying pan" loop that was part of Peter's daily training ride. The post-ride festivities will feature a bountiful pot-luck social with annual awards presentation at the Ruritan club. Please bring a dish to share and join in the cameraderie! FREE! DIRECTIONS: Exit I-64 at Dominion Blvd. Go straight on Dominion Blvd. two traffic lights (you will have gone about 3 miles and crossed a steel bridge). Continue straight to the next intersection (Shillelagh Rd.) and turn left. Proceed one mile to the Grassfield Ruritan on your right.
