Classic bicycle road racing has returned to Blacksburg, Virginia!

Our beautiful 1999 VA State RR course winds through areas used in the Tour duPont and Mountain Magic. The short loop is 30 miles and the long loop is 42 miles. Both are 90% rural backcountry byways. The terrain is mixed, and even has some flatter sections, but is generally rolling and mostly without long climbs. A notable exception is the ascent up Harding Avenue, which averages 5% pitch over 2.5 miles. As this climb flattens out one mile from the finish, both climbers and sprinters may be in contention for an exciting end to the race. In between, long stretches of scenic mountain valleys will provide the backdrop as breakaway artists try to take advantage of the twisting country roads to get out of sight.
