b. When a club or promoter promotes only one event during the course of the racing year, that event will be designated a BAR event. Usually the event designated will have the higher prize list, however, the promoting organization may decide which event will be the BAR event.
c. Clubs or promoters organizing more than one OPEN event may designate only one of those events as a BAR event (except for District Championships). Additional races may be designated BAR races by paying a $50 fee to the District Association. Races not appearing on the event announcement in the possession of the BAR administrator will not be considered for inclusion in the BAR. The BAR administrator encourages promoters to contact him. early in the race planning process. For a race to be considered for inclusion in the BAR, the BAR administrator must have a copy of the race announcement four weeks before the date of the event, or two weeks before the submission deadline for the newsletter in which any advertisement of the race occurs, whichever is earlier. There shall be no exceptions.
d. Clubs or promoters organizing a USCF State Championship event for District 42 racers may promote another event as a BAR race in addition to the USCF Championship.
b. Riders may earn points in only one race per their BAR class at a given event. If a rider earns points in two races in his/her BAR class at the same event then the higher point total earned from the two events is awarded.
Senior Events open to all USCF Senior Cat 1, 2 and 3 riders. Novice Events open to all USCF Senior Category 4 riders. Masters 35+ Events open to all USCF Masters age 35 and above. Masters 45+ Events open to all USCF Masters age 45 and above. Women Events open to all USCF Women. Junior Events open to all USCF Juniors (regardless of age or gender).
a. Any Novice class rider who moves from the Novice class to the Senior class as a result of a voluntary or forced upgrade of USCF racing category may transfer up to 40 points to the Senior class BAR. These 40 points are not subtracted from their ranking in the Novice class. In addition, Novice class riders may not earn more than 75 points in a single season. Any placings in excess of this level will not score toward the BAR.
b. A Senior BAR race may also include Categories in addition to USCF Categories 1, 2 and 3. Similarly, a Novice BAR race may include USCF Category 5 riders, so long as it is open to all USCF Category 4 riders. In contrast, a race for Masters 40+ cannot be a Masters 35+ BAR race because it excludes riders ages 35-39.

The points scored at each placing shall be multiplied by a factor based on prize list , Rpl, and a factor based on actual attendance of the race, Ratt. The prize list multiplier shall be calculated as follows:
For races with prize lists $500 and greater: Rpl = -0.25 + (0.0025 * Prize List) For races with prize lists less than $500: Rpl = 1 Rpl shall not exceed 4.
The attendance multiplier shall be calculated based on the attendance, A, relative to a base level A0 as follows:
For races with A <= A0/2 Ratt = 0.5 For races with A0/2 < A < 2A0 Ratt = A/A0 (rounded to the nearest tenth) For races with A => 2A0 Ratt = 2
The attendance multiplier and the prize list multiplier are then multiplied by the number of points from table 1. This is the resulting accumulated BAR points.
The base level, A0, shall have the values shown in Table 2.

For example, the winner of a Senior race with $1200 prize list and 80 entrants would receive 66 BAR points. This is calculated by figuring the Rpl*Ratt*base points.
Rpl = -0.25 + (0.0025 * 1200) = 2.75 Ratt = 80/50 = 1.6 Base points = 15 points scored = 2.75 * 1.6 * 15 = 66
The second place winner of a Senior Women's race with 20 entrants and a $400 prize list would receive 24 BAR points.
Rpl = 1 since prize list is less than $500 Ratt = 20/10 = 2 Base points = 12 points scored = 2 * 1 * 12 = 24
b. In the case where there are fewer starters than the number of BAR places to be awarded, the BAR points shall be awarded from the last place upward, based on the number of starters. Example: At the district road race championship there are five starters and three finishers. The winner receives 5 base points, which are then adjusted by the appropriate prize list multiplier.
c. In time trial events where there are multiple USCF categories constituting a single BAR class, the BAR points shall be awarded by ranking in ascending order the times of all the participants in the given BAR class. Example: At the District Time Trial, although medals are awarded to the top three riders in the five year, USCF-mandated intervals, the BAR shall combine the appropriate Master riders as into their respective BAR classes, and rank the riders solely on time, without regard to age within a BAR class.
d. In races where a BAR category is split up over multiple races, the total number of participants (A) shall be computed by summing all the participants in the multiple races. For example, a promoter has a Cat 1/2 race and a Cat 3 race. The total number of participants will be computed by summing both races.
e. No BAR points will be awarded solely for medalling in a State Championship beyond those due the rider based on Rule 9(a)-(c).
f. For the purpose of scoring the BAR, the five district or state championships shall have prize list multipliers as follows:
Road Race 3 Criterium 2 Time Trial 2 Track 2 Cyclocross 1.5The track championship shall be scored as an omnium of all events.
g. Results are usually provided by the promoters or USCF officials. If two sets of results are submitted, the results supplied by the Chief Referee take precedence. It is the responsibility of the individual rider to ensure that the registrar and other race officials correctly record the placing and team or club name. The promoter shall provide to the BAR administrator, within five working days of the event, copies of the results, start lists, and USCF race report. The BAR administrator will return these to the promoter if so desired.
a. The team classification is calculated by summing the points of the top three riders from each club in each BAR class at the end of the BAR competition period. Example. Team Looney has 11 riders in the BAR at the end of the year. Only the three riders with the highest points will count toward the team BAR.
b. Riders changing teams in mid season do not carry BAR points earned for their first team to their second team, for the purposes of determining team standings. It is the responsibility of the rider to provide proof to the BAR administrator of the change of teams.
